The mango trees in my parents' home in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija have started bearing fruits a few months ago and in a few more months, the mangoes might be ready for harvesting. Harvesting fruits and giving them to relatives and friends is almost a "tradition" for Mama Evie and Papa Joe.
Also, December to February is a very good time to visit Sta. Rosa, because the weather is generally cool, and the rainy season is still a few months away. Visiting family and friends would often pick the mangoes that they can take home.
After picking the fruits, my parents and visitors would often gather by a permanent shed near the kitchen to have coffee, tell stories, and share meals.
